HCG DIET FAQ’S

Is the HCG diet just a fad?

No.  The HCG diet is based on a VLCD (very low calorie diet).  VLCD’s are time tested and proven to be safe and effective when properly monitored.  The HCG makes your results much better than with a traditional VLCD, such as with liquid protein shakes alone. The diet is based on healthy, lean, organic foods and our dietitians can help monitor your progress to make sure you are getting the protein and nutrients you need!

Is HCG safe?

HCG has very few, if any, side effects, and none that are serious.  Headaches and menstrual spotting are probably the most common.

Can I just get HCG for cheap on the internet?

Maybe.  Who knows what you are getting?  And even if you could be assured you were getting pharmaceutical-grade injectable HCG, who will be monitoring your success?  Who will be your dietitian to answer your questions?  The drug itself is just a small part of your success.  We have a team of experienced weight loss professionals to assist in your care!

What are “homeopathic” HCG drops?

You will read a lot of information on the internet about “homeopathic” HCG.  About how it will test negative for the actual chemical HCG.   Many times when these homeopathic solutions are chemically tested there is either no HCG found whatsoever, or only trace amounts. Would you buy a gallon of ice cream that doesn’t have any actual ice cream in it?

Isn’t it weird for a guy to take HCG?

Actually HCG is present in very small amounts in men and is often used to treat hypogonadism or infertility issues in men.  It generally has no significant side effects.

Lots of clinics are offering HCG, why choose Dr. Curry’s team?

Weight loss is all we have been doing for many years, and we have a complete team of experts to help you succeed.  Just because people offer HCG does not mean they are experts or have any specific expertise in the complex issues that weight loss patients often face!

What types of foods can I eat on the HCG diet?

Food choices should be varied daily for the most effective weight loss.

    • Boneless chicken breast
    • Lean ground beef
    • Filet mignon
    • Crab meat

    1. With the HCG diet the daily intake is typically 500 calories. With Adipex its going to vary depending on your BMI and other factors, which our dietitians will help determine.

  1. I would like to know the price of the HCG program and wonder if you can combine this with adipex to help with the hunger? If so , how much would that be? I’m very interested and have been researching HCG. I’m going on a trip in 5 1/2 weeks and would like to do a round before I leave.

    1. As long as your BMI is over 25 you can do HCG. I don’t like to post prices here, as they change from time to time so I’ll send you an email. Dr. Curry

  2. I have been on the adipex program for 2 rounds the second round was not successful, but the first was. I have been off the adipex since the last of April or early May. Problem is I am gaining weight steadiy….I am getting married in 4 weeks and need to do something fast. It doesn’t matter what I do…I gain weight. I moved 3 hours away from the cincinnati office and I would like to see if there is an office here that I could go to for the same program….I just want someone that is reliable. If you could message me back….. that ould be great. I now live in williamsburg, KY. I don’t mind driving ,but I would like to find something within an 1 1/2 hours. Cincinnati is 3 hours away. Thanks you- Robin Olivier 117 florence Ave., Williamsbusg, KY
    Phone: 513-312-9167 Thank you!

    1. Hi Robin, sorry for the delay. You could do Belviq now, but not Adipex as you have to be off for 6 months. Sounds like you are close to that but not quite there. You can go to our office in Crestview Hills, shouldn’t be too far for you! Just call 859-331-1035 and ask for Pam. Dr. Curry

  3. I would like to know the cost of the hcg diet and what can I expect from it. I weight around 187 and would like to lose between 30-35 pounds. Do I need to come into the office everyday to do this my work schedule is a little crazy.

    1. I will have someone contact you about pricing, but as far as your goal it’s a great option for HCG. Most patients will lose 20-30 lbs. You only have to come in weekly, not daily! Dr. Curry

    1. Hi there – I don’t post prices here, but you can go to any of our locations for initial exam. Just call 513-559-1222 ext. #2 to discuss pricing. Dr. Curry

can help with my weight loss. I’m very aware that
i need to lose weight my legs are bothering me
and my lower back.I would also like to know the
    cost of your diet plan.

    1. Hi there!

It’d probably be best if you just call and talk to one of our weight loss patient representatives. Adipex (phentermine), or Belviq might be a good option but we need to know more. They can also discuss cost.

      Dr. Trace Curry

    1. Minimum BMI for HCG is 28. I don’t like to post cost on the internet – just call 513-559-1222 option 2 and you can get more info.

      Thanks – Dr. Curry

  5. I was wondering if i could get the cost of hcg program with and without adipex? I was on adipex last year and the first time i took it i had experienced a 40 lb weight loss that was through medi weightloss. I then tried adipex again through my doctor and didnt lose only a few lbs. Does your body get immuned to this medicine, thats what i was told.

    1. I will have Robin from my office reach out by email to go over cost. You don’t really become immune to Adipex, but you can become less sensitive and require a higher dosage.

      Dr. Curry

  6. I am a long time patient. I had the band placed 8 years ago. I have had some recent issues. I had my band unfilled about a year ago because of issues. I am currently being filled but it is a slow process of losing the 20lbs I have gained. I’ve lost about 10 but still have 10 to go. I am frustrated and summer is here. I am 5′ 1.5″ and 135lbs..just curious what my medical weight loss options are to assist in losing the last 10lbs? Thanks.

    1. Hi Melissa, sorry for the delay. We have multiple options to assist Lap Band patients, if you call 513-559-1222 option 2 someone can go through all the programs we have available.

      Dr. Curry

  7. Hi, I’m interested in the hcg . Could you please email me the cost as well as information on this. Do you have this at the columbus location ?

  8. Curious about hgc and its costs. What about weight gain afterward? I am coming off of an injury and need to get active and loose 90 pounds in my opinion. I used to body build so I don’t want to loose muscle. thanks

    1. Hi Renee – for 90 pounds you might be better off with a gastric balloon rather than HCG, but our HCG program is $595 for the full 3 months.

      Dr. Curry

  9. Hi i am very interested I. The hug program in Columbus are there payment plan options? I’m about 80-100 pounds over weight currently but I don’t want surgery I wear my weight different so I don’t look as much overweight as i am. I’d like to schedule an appointment to come in and talk to someone about my options and what’s best is there a charge for this? I would like more info on this program I would like to have someone email me prices what’s included etc. thank you Mary

  10. How much does the hcg diet cost? I want to lose 50-60 pounds. Would this work for me? I am on phentermine at the time being but in 3 months i have only lost 12 pounds while being on it. I need something that will work for me. I’m tired of being obese and forking out a hundred dollars a month for phentermine isn’t worth it anymore. It worked for me in the past but not now.

    1. It’s sometimes hard to predict what will and won’t work for a particular patient, but the HCG diet is a good option for 15-30 pounds. For 50-60 pounds, either a balloon or a surgical weight loss option would be best.

      Dr. C

  11. How much is the adipex and the HCG, I contacted another place and I could make payments with the HCG I receive 325 every 3 months on my insurance card plus bi weekly pay.

What do I need to start the adipex.

  12. Hi, I would love some information on the HCG diet. Such as cost, restrictions, criteria, and any other information that would be helpful. I have been researching HCG for quite some time and am trying to find the right clinic to go to.

    Thanks so much!

    1. Ok Madison I forwarded your info to Pam from my office who will be contact you to discuss our HCG Diet program.

      Dr. Curry

  13. Hi, I am 56yrs old and I weigh 245lbs and 5’1 I am pre-diabetic and need to loss weight would HCG work for me or would the balloon work better and how would the recovery process work with me being pre-diabetic?

    1. Hi Zelda, at your BMI I don’t think HCG would be a powerful enough option. It would be best to consider a surgical weight loss option like a sleeve gastrectomy, or if that’s not feasible then balloon would be 2nd best.

      Dr. Curry

  14. I would like information on the hcg diet program. The cost, also can someone on blood pressure meds do this? Or if there is any info on the other weight loss meds?

  15. Dear Dr Curry,
I would like to lose 30-35 lbs safely…but within 3-4 months max. I’m interested to know know which option You would recommend to me. Obviously I’d like to go non surgical if possible. Options please.?
    Looking forward to it!!

    1. To achieve this I would HCG with phentermine. Best bet would be to fill out appointment request here on the web site and I will have someone call you.

      Dr. Curry
