  1. I had the sleeve on April 8, 2013 and it was the best decision I’ve ever made. My second best decision I made was having my surgery at Fast Track with Dr. Curry. I have been given a second chance at life! I have lost a total of 210 lbs, with 120 of that since surgery (the others weight I lost under supervision of Curry and staff). I still have around 40 lbs to lose till I reach goal weight. It’s amazing how different my life has been!!

  2. I started the process for Gastric Sleeve in January 2014. My starting weight was 440 lbs for a 6’5″ 44-year old Caucasian male. On pre-op diet alone, I lost 50 lbs. Since the surgery in April of 2014, I have lost an additional 110 lbs. Thus far, as of 11/20/2014, I have lost 160 lbs and I’m still losing weight in a healthy manner. I went from a 6x shirt to a 2x (2x due to my height) and my pant waistband has shrunk from a size 58 to a size 38! Being able to walk into just about any store and purchase clothing off the rack still is a new and amazing experience for me. No more specialty stores or shopping online for me, I can go anywhere for clothing. Aside from super morbid obesity, I was on several blood pressure meds, diabetic meds, cholesterol meds – taking nine pills per day! Aside from multi-vitamins, I’m off of all of my medications that were a result of the obesity. I am back on track to having a life.

The journey has been amazing, and I know it’s not complete. I am deeply appreciative of the tools given to me to help me regain my life and my health.

  3. I had the lap band to sleeve conversion done on 5/21/2015 and am almost two weeks post op. I have had no pain/issues/trouble so far and feel great. The process for me was so smooth and the staff was absolutely wonderful. They made me feel so relaxed and informed that I never felt nervous at all. I especially love the staff at JourneyLife (especially Elaine), who has the most loving and caring spirit. Dr. Curry and Rebecca have also been great at answering my questions and keeping me informed about what to expect. I pray that I have great success with this new way of life. I know I made a good decision.

  4. I had the sleeve surgery November 17, 2014 so I am approximately 7 months out. I’ve lost 150 pounds since my first appointment in September and everything is going very well. While I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Pitt and the staff, I’m really writing this for people not sure if they want to have this surgery. I’m 52 years old and I’ve lost and gained weight my whole life but this surgery was life changing in ways I did not expect. I thought when people said “this is life changing” they meant that the change in my body would be life changing but it’s the changes I’ve been forced to make in my head that are most significant. I’m not done yet, I have more weight to lose and my thinking about food, types of food, portions sizes and so on is still evolving but I’ve come a long way.

I find myself wanting to tell people I see who are severely over weight that it doesn’t have to be this way. I want to somehow explain to them that as smart as I always thought I was, I was a food idiot and a slave to bad habits. I could always change my diet, I could always lose the weight, but changing my thinking and my habits was something I didn’t even know how to approach in any meaningful way and frankly something I really didn’t believe I needed to do. This surgery forced me to examine those things. It saved my life. No, it gave me a life that I had allowed to be taken from me by how I dealt with food.

So thank you Dr. Pitt for doing my surgery, thank you Dr. Curry for bringing Dr. Pitt to Cincinnati, thank you Rebecca for showing me the error in my old ways and to everyone else, too many people to list, who have been a part of my success. I will keep working to make sure I use the gifts you’ve given me for the rest of my life.

  5. Dr. Pitt is truly an amazing doctor. That is the only way that I can begin my testimonial. I had the gastric sleeve surgery on June 15, 2015. Dr. Pitt was there for me every step of the way. I was very nervous about having the surgery because of a previous botched surgery that took one year and eight additional surgeries to fully heal from. Dr. Pitt reassured me and answered every question that I had. He even reassured my family members and answered their questions as well. Having the surgery was the best thing that I could have ever done for myself. I feel like a new person and I have more energy and a new outlook on life. To date I lost over 30 Pounds. I would recommend Dr. Pitt to anyone who is considering the gastric sleeve surgery. K. Johnson

  6. After five major weight losses “on my own” ( through diet, exercise, and eating disorders) in my life and gaining it back every time, I decided to head down the bariatric surgery path. I had my VSG surgery with Dr. Curry on 4/10/17. My initial consultation weight was in the mid-340 lb range (I’m 5’11 and age 35). I was 336 before starting my three-week pre-op diet and was 312 the day of my surgery (lost 23 lbs on my pre-op diet). I know my results probably aren’t typical, but I’m already down to 193 pounds for a total loss of just over 150 pounds. I’ve done a lot of exercise along the way, but my surgery has truly been an amazing tool in my weight-loss journey.

Dr. Curry, Dr. Pitt, Dr. Udelhofen and the rest of their staff have been great along the way. All of my questions were answered in a very timely manner and I was well-educated by the surgeons and staff along the way. I know this is a life-long journey and that I’m simply not “out-of-the-woods” with my current weight loss. This will be a life-long process to keep my weight in check. My entire experience has been very positive. I followed the instructions I was given carefully and my only two “rough” days were the day of my surgery and the day after. Coming off the anesthesia was my only “rough” part and that didn’t last long at all. I’m not proud that I had to take such a drastic step to get my weight under control, but the alternative would have been much worse.

Thanks so much to Dr. Curry, Dr. Pitt, Dr. Udelhofen and the rest of the Journeylite staff! -Ed L., Columbus, OH
